This guide follows the practical Bitcoin mining workflow from preparing an ASIC miner to connecting it to a pool and checking performance. It focuses on setup and troubleshooting rather than a general definition of mining.

Requirements

You need a compatible ASIC miner, stable power, wired internet, adequate ventilation, a Bitcoin wallet, and an account with a mining pool. Check power consumption, fan noise, heat output, and the electrical capacity of the installation site before buying hardware.

Connect the miner

Place the miner in a cool location with proper airflow, connect the network cable to the miner and router or switch, then power the device on. Find its assigned IP address from the router or a network discovery tool.

Open the dashboard

Open the miner IP address in a browser on the same network. Change the default password and keep the management interface on a protected network. Directly exposing a miner dashboard to the public internet is not recommended.

Configure the pool

  • Pool URL: the pool server address.
  • Worker name: an identifier for the device.
  • Password: the worker password when required; some pools accept a simple value such as x.

Save the settings and allow a few minutes for the connection to stabilize. Check Connection, Accepted Shares, and hash rate. Configure a backup pool when the firmware supports it.

Monitor performance

MinerTools can display hash rate, temperature, power, fans, worker status, pool status, and errors in one panel. Centralized monitoring helps you identify connection failures, falling hash rate, and rising temperatures earlier, but it does not guarantee mining income.

Shares and payouts

A share is the pool’s measure of a miner’s contribution. Stable connectivity and real operating time matter in addition to nominal hash rate. Pool income depends on the payment method, contribution, network difficulty, Bitcoin price, fees, and uptime.

Common problems

  • Zero hash rate: check the pool address and worker settings.
  • No accepted shares: check internet connectivity, system time, and algorithm compatibility.
  • High temperature: inspect airflow, dust, and cooling capacity.
  • Repeated disconnections: check the network cable, router, and power quality.

Conclusion

Connect the ASIC to suitable infrastructure, find its IP address, enter the pool and worker details, then monitor accepted shares and hash rate. Use the MinerTools profitability calculator with current data before purchasing hardware.
